Typhoon Maria pummeled Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture on July 10, bringing strong winds and rain that knocked out power in more than 13,000 households in Miyakojima City.
This footage shows a glimpse of the windy conditions and low visibility due to the storm. The uploader tweeted that various structures in Miyakojima City, such as Irabuo Bridge, which connects to nearby Irabu Island, were closed due to the weather.
According to a report from The Yomiuri Shimbun, evacuation recommendations were issued to approximately 25,000 households throughout the city and at least one 40-year-old man was injured after winds knocked him to the ground.
