Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will be hosting a dinner for Amit Shah on Thursday, eight years after he abruptly cancelled a similar dinner party for BJP leaders in 2010. Shah landed in Patna and headed straight to the state guest house for the breakfast meeting with Nitish Kumar. Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and the BJP’s state president Nityanand Rai were also present during the breakfast. The two leaders will meet over dinner hosted by Kumar at his house around 8pm and are expected to work out the differences. Modi, Rai and a couple of other leaders are also expected to attend the dinner. The Bharatiya Janata Party has assured the JD(U) that it respects its status in Bihar, and sees Kumar as indispensable to the future of the state. The JD(U), in turn, has conveyed to the BJP it is firmly committed to the alliance and wishes to resolve the 2019 seat-sharing issue, on “equal and respectable” terms.
