Transgender Actress Nicole Maines Makes
TV History The CW show Supergirl is making history by casting TV's first
transgender superhero. Nicole Maines, a transgender activist and actress, will play the character Dreamer in season 4 of the show. Nicole Maines, via 'Variety' In 2013, Maines made headlines after being barred from using a girl's restroom at
her school. She then sued the school district and eventually the state Supreme Judicial Court ruled her rights had been violated, a major benchmark for trans rights. Maines has guest-starred on USA TV show Royal Pains as a transgender teen and later appeared in the documentary, The Trans List. Supergirl season 4 will be back on the CW in October.
