Police and protesters clashed in Oakland during a July 23 rally, held in response to a fatal stabbing that occurred on an Oakland train.

A man stabbed 18-year-old Nia Wilson and her sister, Latifa, on the platform of Oakland’s MacArthur station on Sunday night. Wilson succumbed to her injuries and her sister is being treated for a neck wound.

Police arrested a suspect named John Cowell at the Pleasant Hill station after an anonymous tip from a passenger. BART Police Chief Carlos Rojas identified the suspect as a violent felon currently on parole, reported CBS.
