South Korea's consumer sentiment fell by its largest margin in 20 months in July... amid concerns over escalating trade spats and worries over the economic downturn at home.
The Bank of Korea's monthly consumer confidence index plunged four-and-a-half points in a month to 101 in July, the lowest since April last year when the country was rocked by a massive corruption scandal that brought down the previous Park Geun-hye administration.
The major sag in sentiment also comes on the back of the escalating trade spat between South Korea's two biggest trading partners -- the U.S. and China -- and the sluggish domestic employment market.
