A bandh called by Maratha groups in Mumbai and its surrounding areas got off to a peaceful start on Wednesday morning, but grew in intensity later on in the day.

Police resorted to lathi-charge after protesters attacked mediapersons at the entry point of the Kalamboli expressway during a bandh called by Maratha groups in Mumbai and its surrounding areas on Wednesday.

Sources said stones were also pelted at police personnel.

The protestors are agitating over the demand of reservations for Marathas in jobs and education.
