Around 800 migrants forced their way through the border fence separating Morocco and the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta on July 26, 2018. Dozens were injured in clashes as Spanish police tried to prevent the migrants breaching the fence.

At least 26 people – 16 migrants and 10 Guardia Civil officers – were injured in the clash, the force said.

Some migrants climbed the heavily fortified fence, while some used circular saws and other tools to cut through the wire.

As the police tried to stop them, they hurled plastic bottles of excrement, quick lime and used makeshift flame throwers, the Spanish Interior Ministry said in a statement. Credit: Guardia Civil via Storyful
