The deadly Carr Fire in Redding, California, has killed two people and injured three firefighters as of July 27, according to the San Francisco Gate.

A Redding firefighter was killed while battling the fire, according to reports on July 27, and a bulldozer operator reportedly died on July 26.

More than 20,000 residents of Redding, California, fled their homes on July 26 and July 27 after the fire erupted to at least 44,450 acres.

The fire threatened nearly 5,000 buildings by July 27, destroying 65 structures and damaging 55.

The cause of the fire was reported as a vehicle malfunction on Monday, July 23.
