Israeli authorities released the Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi and her mother on July 29. The pair had spent about eight months in prison, according to Haaretz.
Footage released by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas showed a meeting with the Tamimi family later that day.
Tamimi is a 17-year-old member of a prominent activist family, and was imprisoned in December, 2017, for kicking and slapping an Israeli soldier. A video of the incident went viral, giving her icon status for Palestinians, according to international reports. Credit: President Mahmoud Abbas via Storyful
