U.S. President Donald Trump says he's ready to meet Iranian officials without preconditions, defusing the recent build-up of tension between the two countries.
During a news conference with Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte on Monday, Trump said he'd "meet with anybody" from Iran and that he believes in meetings.
This marks a significant change of tone from last week, when Trump and Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani exchanged more heated remarks.
After Rouhani said that war with Iran would be the mother of all wars,... Trump tweeted in block capitals that Iran would suffer significant consequences, if it threatened the U.S.
Washington and Tehran have been at odds, after Trump decided to drop a landmark deal on curbing sanctions on Iran.
