A dust storm rolled across the Phoenix metro area along with heavy thunderstorms on August 2, causing some damage to homes in Maricopa County, Arizona, according to AZ Central.
Such dust storms, also called haboobs, frequently precede the region’s monsoon storms, as the weather pattern pushes desert dust ahead as it rolls across the flat landscape.
The storms reportedly caused flash flooding, damaging winds and hail through the evening.
