Firefighters battled blazes in three parts of Valencia, Spain, on Tuesday, August 7, following a spate of forest fires which prompted thousands of people to be evacuated from the area.

Spain was experiencing a heat wave at the time the forest fires broke out, with reports of nine people dying from heat stroke.
