Streets in the city of Aubagne, in the south of France, are filled with water after violent storms battered the country's Mediterranian coast.

Footage captured today (August 9) in the city – which is 20km from Marseille – shows water lapping around half-submerged cars.

The flood comes after violent hailstorms struck the city last night.

Many areas of France have been put on alert as storms begin to move across the country.
