Once again to the sporting front,… the Korea football association has announced the new men's national football team head coach at a press conference on Friday.
For more, we go to our Won Jung-hwan who's been following this story for us.
Jung-hwan who will lead the Taeguk Warriors from now on?
Hi Ji-yoon,
The Korea Football Association named on Friday, former Portugal boss Paulo Bento as the new head coach for the men's national football team.
Bento has signed a 4-year contract and will lead the Taeguk Warriors through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 49-year old Portuguese coach replaces Shin Tae-yong, who led Korea to the 2018 Russia World Cup.
Bento began his coaching career with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon in 2004,… and moved on to the national level in 2010 by becoming the head coach of his own country which he guided to the semi-finals of the 2012 European Championships.
After a poor performance at the 2014 Brazil World Cup,… he was sacked by Portugal.
His most recent club was Chongqing Lifan in China, which he managed for less than a year.
Bento will make his South Korea debut in September when the national team play friendly matches in Korea against Costa Rica and Chile.
Meanwhile,… according to FIFA's rankings for August, South Korea stayed steady at number 57 in the world, following their performance at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
That's all from me, thank you.
