The eruptive activity of Anak Krakatau volcano off Indonesia, was captured on August 5 by Norwegian freelance photographer Oystein Lund Andersen.

Lava can be seen spurting from the volcanic crater in the footage captured just two kilometres away from the danger zone.

Oystein told Storyful that he witnessed, “lava bombs from the eruption being ejected to several hundred meters above the crater.”

This volcano has been dubbed the ‘Child of Krakatoa’ by geologists who believe that it is the descended from the infamous Krakatoa volcano that erupted in 1883 killing tens of thousands of people. Credit: Oystein Lund Andersen via Storyful
