Tuesday brings golden Sunshine as India earned its seventh medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. This time, it’s India’s shooting team that has brought the good news, as 16-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary bagged Gold in men's 10m Air Pistol event while Abhishek Verma clinched bronze in the same event. Saurabh emerged as the first Indian to bag a gold medal at the 10 meter Air Pistol event. In the final round, Saurabh was up against Japan's Tomoyuki Matsuda after Abhishek had settled for a Bronze with a total tally of 219.3. The 16-year-old then defeated Tomoyuki Matsuda with an aggregate score of 240.7 to claim the top podium spot. Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and congratulated both the athletes. He wrote, “Sixteen year old Saurabh Chaudhary has clinched Gold Medal in 10m Air Pistol event by producing a record score at the ongoing Asian Games. Congratulations to him on his golden achievement. I also congratulate Abhishek Verma who has bagged Bronze Medal in the same event.” Meanwhile, Sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also congratulated them both on his Twitter handle. It was a brilliant performance by Saurabh Chaudhary after he topped the qualification round. Abhishek Verma qualified in the sixth position. India's total medal tally at the ongoing 18th edition of Asian Games now stands at seven- three gold, two silver and two bronze.
