An eleven-year-old tourist captured the incredible moment a cheetah launched an attack on a group of gazelles in Tanzania.

Thijs van der Ven, from the Netherlands, tracked the big cat as it pounced on its prey in the Serengeti National Park.

The cheetah's tail can be seen in the well-shot footage whipping left and right as the animal changes direction at speed.

"I made this video this July in central Serengeti. This kill was made by a female cheetah, her cubs were just nearby," said Thijs.

The footage was captured on July 27.
