Despite Hurricane Lane's departure, parts of the Hawaiian island of Kauai remained flooded on August 28 as authorities reissued a weather warning.
Heavy rains poured on already-flooded areas in the early morning, prompting authorities to evacuate more than 20 homes in Koloa as stream levels rose in the area. Schools were also closed due to waterlogged roads and highways blocking main transport routes.
Drone footage filmed that day shows roads inundated by muddy floodwaters.
Residents in Kauai are still recovering a severe downpour in April. The county saw an unprecedented 50 inches of rain in 24 hours, setting a national record and destroying hundreds of homes.
