A huge fire ripped through the National Museum of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, September 2.

Brazilian President Michel Temer tweeted that “It’s a sad day for all Brazilians” and said the damage to the museum, which celebrated its 200-year anniversary earlier this year, was an “incalculable” loss for the country. Globo reported no one was injured in the blaze that swept through the former home of the Portuguese royal family. Credit: Ana Margareth Salim via Storyful
