On today’s show we’ve got news of potentially the hardest onsight first ascent in climbing history.
But first, we caught up with Italian Jacopo Larcher to find out how he went from competition climber to dedicated trad-head in just a few short years. We’ve also got an incredible bit of news from Chulilla, Spain, where Slovenian climber Klemen Becan has pulled off an onsight first ascent of an 8c+ project. The route is called 'Siempre se Puede Hacer Menos' which roughly translates as 'you can always do less.' This could well be one of the hardest onsight first ascents in the history of climbing, but Klemen was unwilling to commit to a grade, stating that it was difficult to tell how hard the route was after just one try!
Whatever the grade, an onsight first ascent of a project like this is no small thing and congrats to Klemen on the ascent. It will be interesting to see where subsequent ascensionists weigh in on the grade.
