Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson,
Bryson DeChambeau Picked
for U.S. Ryder Team The U.S. Ryder team captain,
Jim Furyk, added three big names
in golf to his team on Tuesday. Woods, Mickelson and DeChambeau
will join a slew of qualifying golfers
to face Europe in France on Sep. 28-30. DeChambeau, ranked 7th in the world, will
be making his first Ryder Cup appearance. Woods, ranked 26th in the world,
has appeared seven times prior. Mickelson, ranked 24th in
the world, will be playing
for the 12th time. Woods accepted an assistant captain role for the team earlier this year, but Furyk said in a recent press conference that Woods will step down in order to prepare as a player. Mickelson took to Twitter to
celebrate his appointment to the team. Furyk will make
one final player
selection on Monday. Thomas Bjorn, captain
of the rival European
team, will reveal his
selections on Wednesday.
