Jack Ma is the charismatic co-founder of China’s largest e-commerce firm Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
Reuters reports he will step down as chairman in one year.
Ma will concentrate on philanthropy and education.
He will pass on the reins to trusted lieutenant Daniel Zhang.
Ma has long flagged plans to step back.
He turned 54 on Monday.
