The annual National Sports Awards felicitation programme was held on Tuesday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind honoured selected sportspersons for the various national level awards. The awards facilitated at the event were Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Dronacharya Awards, Arjuna Awards and Dhyan Chand Awards. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and world champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu received the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the highest sporting award of the country. Dronacharya Awards were bestowed on coaches from various fields. Subedar Chenanda Achaiah Kuttappa, Vijay Sharma, A. Srinivasa Rao, Sukhdev Singh Pannu, Clarence Lobo , Tarak Sinha, Jiwan Kumar Sharma and V.R. Beedu were the awardees. Sportspersons who received the Arjuna Award were- Neeraj Chopra, Subedar Jinson Johnson, Hima Das, Nelakurthi Sikki Reddy, Subedar Satish Kumar, Smriti Mandhana, Shubhankar Sharma, Manpreet Singh, Savita, Col. Ravi Rathore, Rahi Sarnobat, Ankur Mittal, Shreyasi Singh, Manika Batra, G. Sathiyan, Rohan Bopanna, Sumit, Pooja Kadian, Ankur Dhama and Manoj Sarkar. Dhyan Chand Award receivers of this year were- Satyadev Prasad, Bharat Kumar Chetri, Bobby Aloysius and Chougale Dadu Dattatray.
