Storm clouds rolled into Culcairn, a town in southeast New South Wales, on Wednesday, October 3, a day before heavy rain hit the state and offered some much-needed relief to drought-stricken areas.

This video taken by a New South Wales State Emergency Service staff shows the scene.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned of up to 45 mm of rain in Sydney on Thursday and up to 50 kph of wind gusts along the coast. Downpour would also be expected in Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, Mudgee and Wollongong, the ABC reported.

Parts of the state, which had been declared 100 percent in drought in August, could expect up to one month’s worth of rain on Thursday and Friday, 9News reported. Credit: NSW SES Culcairn Unit via Storyful
