London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey took a controversial stance in 2006. Back then he wrote that single girls in inner cities “deliberately become pregnant” to get government benefits. Bailey said the state needs to stop seeing it as “acceptable” to be a single mother. According to Business Insider, he pointed to the disadvantages of a child growing up without a father. Bailey team is accusing Sadiq Khan’s team of misrepresenting Bailey’s past comments.
