ಒಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಳರಸರ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವವಾಗಿ ಮೆರೆದು ಇಂದು ಬದಲಾದ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಡಹಬ್ಬವೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮೈಸೂರು ದಸರಾ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಶತಮಾನಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಇತಿಹಾಸವಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಕಾಲ ನಡೆದು ಬಂದಿರುವ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಹಬ್ಬ ಕಾಣಸಿಗುವುದು ಬಹಳ ಅಪರೂಪ.
