The number of unemployed people in Korea has risen to its highest level since the aftermath of the Asian Financial Crisis in 1999.
Data released by Statistics Korea show that in the third quarter this year the figure rose by an average of 102-thousand a month compared to the same period last year... to a combined one-million.
For the July-to-September period, that's the highest level in 19 years.
In response, the Ministry of Economy and Finance says it'll unveil comprehensive measures this week that include short-to-mid term plans to boost the number of jobs, investment and provide tax breaks.
