U.S. Vice President Mike Pence says his country will continue to exert unprecedented diplomatic and economic pressure on North Korea.
In an op-ed published Friday in the Washington Post, Pence laid out America's vision for collaboration with countries in the Indo-Pacific, calling on them to keep up the pressure campaign on North Korea, including sanctions, until the regime's denuclearization is achieved.
Pence is heading to the region this coming week for a summit with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, as well as the East Asia Summit and the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.
Diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea appears to have stalled at the moment after a high-level meeting between the two sides in New York was canceled last week.
