Hindustan Times Associate Editor Kumar Uttam reports from the ground a day after voting took place in Phase 1 of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections. The next phase of the polls covers assembly segments predominantly made up of tribal population and has a substantial Schedule Caste vote. Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, who quit Congress and launched his party a few months ago, has been able to cause a stir there. His move is hurting the BJP and the Congress, but the extent of damage remains to be seen when the results come out on 11 December.
