Bollywood actor Salman Khan kick-started the Mechuka Adventure Festival along with Minister of State (MoS) for Home Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu. They rode bicycles to kick-start the festival. The festival was organised to boost adventure tourism in the region. Salman Khan is the brand ambassador of Arunachal Pradesh tourism.
