Nick Ayers Turns Down
Role of White House Chief of Staff Ayers has served as
Vice President Mike Pence's
chief of staff for over a year. He was considered the
leading candidate for the
position, currently held by
Marine general John Kelly. Kelly will leave the job at
the end of the month due to
conflicts with President Donald Trump. President Trump, via CNN A White House official said
Ayers turned down the position
because he and Trump
couldn't agree on terms. Trump wanted a
commitment of
two years, Trump tweeted Sunday
that he is "interviewing"
for the position.
