The news has a reputation for negativity, but CNN has pointed to some "good" news stories for this year, and the best one, it says, is the vow by South and North Korea to put a formal end to the Korean War.
CNN's "good news" stories included world news, U.S. news, human rights and sports.
The two Koreas were also chosen for the '"good news" story in sports...., for marching together under one flag at the opening ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
Other items on the good news list were... the low unemployment rate in the U.S.,... and Saudi Arabia allowing women to drive.
