Year 1, 2 and 3 pupils can say goodbye to having to sit for mid- and final year exams come 2019.

Education director-general Datuk Dr Amin Senin said the abolition of these exams in replacement of classroom-based assessment for young children will ensure teachers focus on character building of the children instead of exam preparation.
