According to Automotive News, the United Auto Workers union sued General Motors at a US District Court in Ohio.
The suit claims that the automaker's use of temporary employees at an assembly plant violates a labor deal with the union.
The plant named in the lawsuit is the Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana.
The suit added that 1,000 laid-off hourly workers represented by the union have to right to transfer to plants with openings, which includes 700 positions at the Lordstown plant in Ohio.
