Work seems to be continuing behind the scenes between North Korea and the U.S. to make the second Kim-Trump summit happen.
South Korea's ambassador to the United States, Cho Yoon-je told reporters on Tuesday that by seeing how the two leaders are strongly determined to hold their summit, he believes a preparatory meeting will be held soon.
The underground communications are reportedly led by Stephen Biegun, Washington's special representative for North Korea.
But it's not clear if North Korea's Vice Foreign Minister, Choe Son-hui is at the other end of the line.
Cho, when asked to evaluate the North Korean leader's New Year's speech, said that one thing for sure is that Pyeongyang wants to continue the momentum for dialogue.
