Some people are loyal to family, country, a cause. Some people seem to be loyal only to money and themselves. Here's an example to show you that money doesn't buy you class, nor does it buy you a sense of patriotism or duty. Mehul Choksi, the diamond king and uncle of Nirav, currently resident of Antigua, erstwhile resident of Gujarat has, we're told, surrendered his Indian passport. It was meaningless anyway, since it was on an international travel hotlist. But in the symbolism comes the legality. Mehul Choksi has given up his Indian citizenship. not to seek a better life abroad, through struggle and suffering, not to be a part of the glorious Indian Diaspora feeding back to the motherland, but all to save his skin and his money. He'll now be an Antiguan, he and Viv Richards are now countrymen. This tiny commonwealth in the caribbean has snubbed it's nose at us for potentially a big fat money transfer and welcomed him with open arms. What does that say about the super rich in this country. If Mehul Choksi is the pathetic exemplar, are they willing to sell their souls and their country just to stay rich? There's no remorse, no guilt, no shame? What's needed to be done to make an example of this sheer arrogance and make this Antiguan pay us back? From Antiguan hotels to Antiguan cricketers should feel the wrath of all india. this is what's happened.
