The week-long strike came to an end Tuesday as LA teachers and city leaders agreed on a deal, effectively ending days of protest in the nation's second-largest district.
As part of the deal, teachers would get a 6 percent raise and slightly fewer students in each classroom, according to a local source. The deal includes hiring more nurses, guidance counselors, librarians, and support staff. The district will also try to limit the expansion of charters schools and will reevaluate testing requirements.
This video, filmed on the City Hall steps on January 22, shows teachers celebrating at the announcement that a deal has finally been reached.
