Hindustan Times caught up with Scottish writer Irvine Welsh at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2019. Welsh said that Trainspotting was written in his 30s which was a good time, as he knew what he liked and didn't like by then. Welsh said that Trainspotting's characters were inspired by people he knew in real life and had interacted with in Edinburgh.
