Newt Gingrich on Monday defended President Trump over the use of "executive time."

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Monday defended President Trump for reportedly taking five-or-so hours of loosely defined "executive time" per day, reports The Hill.
"The distortions of the hate Trump movement are never more obvious than in the reaction to the President's leaked schedule," Gingrich tweeted. "The ignorance of history of the current elites is pathetic. Churchill slept late, worked late, took a nap every afternoon ( getting into his pajamas)."  Gingrich's supportive message comes a day after Axios published the more than fifty presidential daily schedules it had obtained from an unnamed White House source. The schedules revealed that, in the days since the 2018 midterm elections, "Trump has spent around 60% of his scheduled time…in unstructured 'Executive Time.'"  Axios also noted those hours are typically taken in the morning and spent "in the residence, watching TV, reading the papers, and responding to what he sees and reads by phoning aides, members of Congress, friends, administration officials and informal advisers."
