1 Ganesh Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Hindu God Ganesha, which is celebrated diversely all over the country.
2 Lord Ganesha was born on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the Hindu lunar month of Magh.
3 This festival is given great reverence and is popular as Maghi Ganpati all around Maharashtra.
4 Many Konkani and Maharashtrian families celebrate this day just like Ganesh Chathurti (August-Sept), by placing a Murti(idol) of Ganesha.
5 In Pune, devotees visit Moreshwar temple on this day, which is the first temple of Ashtavinayaka yatra.
6 Every year devotees gather at Mayureshwar Temple in Pune, to attend the Palkhi Yatra of their beloved Bappa.
7 In addition, a few devotees also observe fast on this day, before observing the puja rites for Lord Ganesha.
8 Devotees bathe with water mixed with sesame seeds, after applying a sesame paste on their body.
