1 The most famous mantra from the Hindu scriptures that venerates the Guru (teacher) is;
|| Gurur-Brahma Gurur-Vishnu Gurur-Devo Maheshwara |
Guru Sakshat Para Brahman Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah ||
2 The meaning of this hymn known by everyone is;
Guru is the creator in the form of Brahma, he is the protector in the form of Vishnu, and he is the force of transformation in the form of Shiva. Guru and his teachings are indeed limitless just like Para Brahman.
I make my offering salutations to that brilliant (Shri) Guru; I bow before him (namah).
