An overview of Peace Learning Center of Milwaukee's (PLC) Peacemakers' Workshop, designed for middle elementary grades.

PLC offers training in non-violent conflict resolution, tools for productive communication and peacemaking for youth (in 1st through 8th grades) and adults through day-long interactive workshops and follow-up booster sessions.

All PLC programming begins with a full-day, highly interactive, experiential, workshop which exposes students to new tools, skills, and vocabulary to allow them to productively address the daily conflict in their lives. Programming is developed for, and delivered through the use of age-appropriate modules which allow for customization depending upon group needs. Through cooperative games, small group study, and role play, students practice healthy communication, manage conflict nonviolently, build self-esteem and think critically about the impact peaceful action has on their school community, families and neighborhood. All programming includes modules that address mutual respect, active listening, cooperation, personal accountability, and tolerance for and acceptance of individual beliefs.
