Working in dim light, forest officials raced to pull out a leopard from a 40-feet well at a village near Sirsi in South India.
Venkataramana Hegde, a farmer at Hithila Gida village, heard a splash in his well on February 12. When he went to check and flashed a torchlight inside, he was shocked to find a leopard growling inside.
He called local forest officials who came promptly and started the rescue work. They lowered a ladder and the leopard clung on to it.
As they lifted the ladder, the animal came up along with it and ran away soon after surfacing.
