Ann Coulter again slammed President Trump in an interview.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter on Friday slammed President Trump after he declared a national emergency over border wall funding.
In an interview with AM 790 KABC, she pointed to the approved spending bill that does not include billions of dollars in funding for the wall that Trump had demanded.
"It was one thing, the promise he made every single day at every single speech," Coulter said. "Forget the fact that he is digging his own grave. The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot."
In a tweet on Thursday, Coulter had written: "Trump is the American Merkel. But who cares about Germany? Trump just destroyed the U.S.A." That tweet came not long after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement.
"President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action - including a national emergency - to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border," Sanders noted. "The President is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country."
In the wake of the emergency declaration, the New York Times notes: "Combined with $1.375 billion authorized for fencing in the spending package passed on Thursday night, Mr. Trump would have about $8 billion in all for barriers, significantly more than the $5.7 billion he unsuccessfully demanded from Congress."
