India News: The city recorded 44.9 degrees celsius on Wednesday, which is the highest temperature witnessed in the beginning of May in the last three years. To add to the woes, weathermen have predicted no respite in the coming days.

According to Met officials, temperature at the beginning of May has generally been lower. For instance, May 8 has usually recorded less than 43 degrees celsius in the last few years, except in 2009.
