SC upholds compensation for elephant's death

The Supreme Court has upheld an award of Rs. 13.48 lakh for the death of a temple elephant after it was hit by a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus. The accident had taken place in 1996 and the temple authorities argued that the elephant earned the temple Rs 2 lakh per year.
