New Delhi: Defence Minister AK Antony on Wednesday faced the ire of political parties for giving a 'clean chit' to the Pakistani Army in the killing of five Indian soldiers at the LoC.
After giving a suspension of Question Hour notice in the Lok Sabha over defence minister AK Antony's statement, Sushma Swaraj, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha hit out at the minister for 'letting the country down'.
"AK Antony has let the country down. He should apologies to India," Sushma Swaraj said in the Lok Sabha. Both houses were adjourned following uproar over contradictory statements by A K Antony and Army on killing of Indian soldiers.
Veteran leader LK Advani called the Defence Minister's statement as 'unacceptable'. In an interview to Times Now he said, "Defence minister has exonerated Pakistan, this is unacceptable."
BJP's Yashwant Sinha said that Antony's statement was 'most laughable'. "It seems as if he (Antony) is on Pakistan Army's side. It was a most laughable statement, as the army has clearly stated that Pakistani soldiers were involved and army is on the ground they know better than what prime minister and defence minister know," Sinha said outside parliament.
