Another strike call, and the country braces for a wasted work day. It's now well established that strikes provide no solution to a problem. The ordinary citizen is more often than not unconcerned of the issues behind a strike call. Yet political parties refuse to give this up as a tool to make their point, and often flex their muscles to ensure that people keep away from roads and work places. Banking, insurance, telecom, transport, Defence, mining, postal, and other Central and State Government services will be hit on Tuesday owing to the country-wide strike call by central trade unions. This is for the first time that trade unions of all hues, the Left, Congress, BJP, Shiv Sena, Muslim League and others have joined hands.
