In the latest twist in the infighting amongst the armed forces top brass a group of 140 ex-servicemen who petitioned the President against the appointment of Gen Bikranm Singh as the next Army Chief has now filed a PIL in the Supreme Court, opposing the appointment citing the controversial past of Gen Bikram Singh. The Pathribal encounter in March 2000 when Gen Bikram Singh was commander of 13 battalion in Jammu and Kashmir, has been cited as one of the examples of the General's controversial past. Amongst the petitioners are Admiral Ramdas and Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat, a vocal supporter of General VK Singh.
