The Congress has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for hiding his marital status. On behalf of the Congress, Union Minister Kapil Sibal has approached the EC stating that Modi filed "wrong affidavits till 2012" and has urged the EC to take action.
Earlier in the day, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi launched a direct attack on Modi saying that while the BJP made claims of ensuring safety of women, it took several elections for its prime ministerial candidate to mention the name of his wife in the poll affidavit.
